Program Files 1957-1987; 1973-1982.

The records in this series comprise material relating to mission work in Tanzania generated or retained by the DWME Secretary for Africa. The material is from 1957-1987 with the majority dating from 1973-1982. These records were created throughout the course of the Secretary for Africa's efforts to address mission issues regarding LCA involvement in Tanzania and in his capacity as the DWME representative in the Lutheran Coordination Service (LCS). The majority of records are correspondence, but there are also agenda and minutes, exhibit reports, publicity material, newsletters, proceedings from consultations, topical papers, handbooks, project application materials, and annual reports. Subject matter for these records falls into two categories. There are general program files which include a variety of subject matter, most related to particular projects to which the DWME provided financial assistance. The remaining records in this series pertain to DWME involvement in the LCS. The majority of the records are correspondence between the Secretary for Africa and the LCS or other mission agencies participating in the LCS. Subject matter includes issues concerning the executive committee of the LCS, financial matters, missionary personnel matters, and scholarships for continuing study of Tanzanian nationals either in Tanzania or overseas. For additional records related to the LCS, see LWM 1/10/1 Tanzania Committee, Minutes and Agenda, 1965-1981.
